Still Spirits Queensland Gold Rum is one of the most popular rum essences in the Still Spirits range. It is designed to reproduce the style of a traditional Queensland golden rum, similar in character to classic Australian gold rums.

Makes

Each pack contains 2 sachets, with each sachet flavouring:

• 1.125 litres of 40% ABV neutral spirit
• Total yield: 2.25 litres of finished rum.

Mixing instructions

For each sachet:

1. Measure 1.125 L of 40% ABV neutral spirit (or vodka).
2. Add one sachet.
3. Rinse the sachet with a little of the spirit to recover all the flavouring.
4. Shake or stir thoroughly.
5. Leave for 3–7 days before drinking to allow the flavours to meld. Longer resting (2–4 weeks) will produce a smoother result.

To make it taste even better

If you've distilled your own neutral spirit:

• Carbon filter the spirit before adding the essence.
• Allow the finished rum to age for several weeks.
• Add 5–10 mL of glycerine per litre if you prefer a slightly richer mouthfeel.
• For a more authentic aged-rum character, mature it on medium-toast American oak for 2–6 weeks before bottling.
