An Alcoholometer is used to read the alcohol content of DISTILLED spirits.

It will measure the alcohol percentage in alcohol/water liquid only.

If you have sugar in your liquid  (for example liqueurs) you will get a wrong reading

They cannot be used to read the alcohol of a mash , wash, or wine or beer.

Scale between 0-100%

You will require a test cylinder to float the alcoholometer in (minimum 250ml)
