Turbo yeast is a complex mix of yeast and nutrient which will ferment a pure sugar solution into alcohol. Quality Turbo yeast is specifically designed to ferment a mash producing less volatiles to 20% alcohol (temperature control isessential to reach this level of alcohol)

To function, yeast also needs amino acids, enzymes and minerals which collectively are called 'nutrients'. Quality Prestige Turbo yeasts are a complex mix of yeast and nutrients to give superior fermentation results. Furthermore the strain is grown under sterile conditions to ensure absence of bacteria, which would otherwise influence the quality of the alcohol. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PRESTIGE TURBO YEAST:
There are some Turbos that only ferment with mono sugars, like fructose, glucose or Dextrose, forcing customers to purchase more expensive 'special sugars'. Prestige yeast will ferment (the two sugar) sucrose, which is ordinary white household sugar or castor sugar, with the same speed and purity as with mono sugars. So it is not important to purchase the most expensive sugar when using Prestige Turbo yeast.

Instructions:1. Dissolve 6-8 kg (13 -17 lbs) sugar into 8 liter (2 US gallons) hot water.

PRESTIGE 8KG TURBO :We are especially pleased to recommend Prestige 8 kg Turbo alcohol yeast. This yeast ferments eight kilos of sugar in a 25 liter mash. While ordinary fast acting yeast produces 12-13% final alcohol, Prestige 8 kg Turbo Yeast produces 18%, and often 20%, an increase from the usual alcohol yield of at least 50%.

Instructions: Pour 8kg sugar into 8 litres of hot water and stir until dissolved. Top up to 25 litres with cold water and stir. Make sure temperature is below 30 Celcius then add the sachet of yeast

Stir for 1 minute

For MAXIMUM alcohol and BEST quality results, ferment 10-14 days at between 19-23 Celcius air temperature

For maximum speed - Ferment 5 days at between 24 - 27 Celcius.

 

NOTE: All yeasts will ferment at high temperatures, however a higher alcohol is achieved if temperature control is maintained. This is more so with the higher purity of the yeast.

Obviously, in some countries, you are exposed to extremes of heat that you can't control.

Gert Strand (Prestige products) is well aware of the temperature problems we face here in Australia. The 8kg Turbo Prestige yeast has an increased blend of enzymes and nutrients to help counteract this very problem.

Overheating of the yeast is more prevalent in large quantity ferments. This is applicable to any Turbo yeast. Those customers who have dropped their mash ferment to smaller quantities have discovered this for themselves. Higher alcohol and a purer mash is achieved if fermenting no more than 22-25 litres in the mash ferment. If you wish to ferment larger quantities we recommend Black Label batch fermentation yeast

BLACK LABEL 14% alcohol yeast ferments the purest of all our Turbos in 5 days if the instructions are followed.

This yeast is Suitable for large volume fermentations (batch fermentations)

Instructions for large volume fermentation: Make sure the liquid temperature is below 25¡C (77¡F) then add relevant number of Turbo Yeast sachets. Continue to stir until no more yeast particles are visible. 4. Allow to ferment at 20-25¡C (59-68¡F) air temperature for 3 days. NB. MAKE SURE THE LIQUID TEMPERATURE IS KEPT BELOW 35¡C (95¡F) THROUGHOUT FERMENTATION. Introduce frozen containers of water after 12 and 24 hours to reduce liquid temperature if necessary. Effective for at least 12 months extra if kept in refrigerator.

Pot Distillers yeast 18%

Pot Distillers yeast 18% can ferment fruit brandy, fruit schnapps, grappa, brandy and other mashes to 18% which greatly improves taste after distillation, and gives a better yield. It's a hit with all schnapps distillers. Also, it can sometimes be used to ferment larger batches to 18% alcohol by using one sachet to 50 liters of sugar or fruit mash (half dosage). This is normally impossible with high alcohol Turbos: they ferment violently and produce so much heat early in the process that the yeast dies
